Mithai is sold by the gram, not the plate
Most restaurant POS software is built around plates and portions. A sweet shop sells kaju katli at ₹1,200 a kilo, a 500 g box of mixed mithai, namkeen by weight and packed gift boxes. Dineligent treats weight as a first-class way to sell.
Billing by weight, step by step
- Tick “Sold by weight (price is per kg)” on each sweet in the menu
- On the POS, tapping Kaju Katli opens “Weigh Kaju Katli” with its per-kg price
- With a scale connected over USB-serial on Android, the live weight shows and Use this weight unlocks once the reading is steady. A Windows app is coming soon.
- On any device, type the weight in kg, up to 3 decimals and up to 100 kg
- If the scale stops answering, Dineligent says so and lets you type the weight instead
- Each weighing is its own line, priced to the paisa. Weigh again to add more.
The bill prints “0.750 kg @ Rs.1200.00/kg”, and the KOT and kitchen display show the weight too.
Stock deducted by weight
Recipes for weighed items are set per kg, so selling 750 g deducts three-quarters of the recipe from stock: khoya, sugar, ghee, cashew. The Food cost report shows your margin on each sweet. Inventory and recipes
Packed boxes and namkeen by barcode
Gift boxes and packed namkeen can carry a barcode. Scan it with any keyboard-style USB or Bluetooth scanner and the item is added at once.
